A Self-Assessment Test That Brings Change About



Most of us are constantly bombarded with notifications about online assessments that promise personal growth and success. But how often do these online tests lead to meaningful change? It’s time to unplug from the digital world and reconnect with yourself using an old-school self-assessment called the Wheel of Life. You can gain insights and take steps toward growth by embracing simplicity and introspection.


Unplug and Reconnect with Nature

Here is how you can go about reconnecting:

  1. Please print out The Wheel of Life and take it into nature (file is below).

  2. Start with a gentle 10-15 minute walk to clear your mind and connect with your surroundings.

  3. Breathe deeply and feel how you become one with nature. As your mind settles, you’ll be ready to think and feel about your life at the moment.


Rate each area on a scale of one to ten, combining thinking and feeling. After your wheel is complete, go deeper exploring these questions:


  • What should be different in my life to give a higher score?

  • What steps can I take today and tomorrow to move in that direction?

  • What am I willing to let go of to get more of what I need?

  • Who do I have in my life that can help me along my way?

  • What am I grateful for in my life today?


A Journey That Can Be Taken Together

Consider bringing a friend or your spouse along for this experience. Walking and reflecting together can deepen your understanding and create a closer connection.

You can help each other by asking thoughtful questions and listening. Remember, the goal is not to give solutions but to create space for each other’s reflections and insights.


I love this self-assessment method, especially when practiced in nature, because of its simplicity and power to reconnect us with our inner world.
